Rialacha

• Entries for all Feis competitions, accompanied by all fees, should be submitted on or before Sat. 26th May 2018. Entries will be accepted in the Colgan Hall between 2 and 4 o’clock on Saturday 26th of May. Cups should be returned on or before the 26th of May 2018. Copies of poems will be available in the Colgan Hall on May 26th also.

On no account will late entries be accepted. Where entries are made in bulk by schools, etc., it is the responsibility of the individual competitors or their parents to ensure that the entries are correct. Allowances for genuine mistakes will be made, for one week from close of entry.

Under no circumstances will entries will be accepted on the day.

• Competitors entering by post and wishing to have their competitor cards posted by return must enclose a stamped addressed envelope for same. If postage is not included, the committee will assume that competitors will collect cards from Feis Registrar.

1. The Feis Committee reserves to itself the right to cancel competitions or to withhold prizes.

2. An official accompanist will be provided by the committee for the Vocal Music Section, but competitors may bring their own accompanist if they so wish. For the Instrumental Section, competitors must state at the time of entry if they require the official accompanist. In all cases a copy of own choice for the accompanist is to be supplied one month in advance, otherwise the official accompanist will not be provided.

3. Gaeilge Section : Please note that the competitions in this Section are open to children in Primary Schools only.  Please state the name of the Primary School on the entry form.

4. In all cases of “Own Choice” selection (other than Traditional), the titles of the pieces chosen must be given with the entry, and no alteration in the choice may subsequently be made. A copy of each piece must be provided for the Adjudicator (in staff notation) one month in advance.

5. In all cases of merit the Adjudicator’s decision shall be final.

6. In competitions where an age limit is specified, competitors must be under that age on the 1st January 2018, and produce evidence if such is required. See bottom of this page for Age Calculator.

7. Only one prize will be awarded where there are no more than three competitors; for two prizes to be awarded there must be at least four competitors; and for three a minimum of six. In Competitions for groups, the Committee regrets that medals cannot be awarded.

8. When a particular edition of music is specified, the competitors will be judged according to that edition.

9. Competitors may obtain their marking sheets on or after the day of the competitions.

10. Any objections to an award must be lodged in writing, together with a deposit of €10 within 24 hours of the announcement of the result of the competition. The deposit shall be forfeited unless the objection can be upheld.

11. Competitors must perform in the order in which their names appear in Leabhar Na Feise; otherwise they will be liable for disqualification.

12. The Adjudicators may not be approached by any person other than members of the Feis Committee.

13. Challenge Cups or Shields must be returned to the Feis Registrar in good condition by the relevant closing date for entries. Cup holders’ entries will not be accepted unless this condition is adhered to. Any loss or damage caused to the cup must be made good by the holder.

14. Nobody may compete more than once in any competition.

15. When the Committee feels that the number of entries is rather large, they reserve the right to sub-divide a competition.

16. Fees are non-returnable.

• Official entry forms must be used where possible.

• A separate entry form must be used for each section.

• Entries will not be accepted by phone.

• Entries, stating name, address and date of birth of the competitors, the number and title of the competition and other information required by the rules of the syllabus should be addressed to the Feis Registrar:Mrs.Bernadette McElhinney, Craigtown , Carndonagh. Tel: 074 9374307 (After 6pm only).

If you need a reply, a stamped addressed envelope is required.

To counteract the possibility of mistakes, competitors are advised to keep a copy of their application. Should a competitor or group be unable to take part in an event for which they have entered, they are asked to inform the Secretary in advance so as to avoid gaps in the programme of performances, and consequent inconvenience to adjudicators, audience and organisers.

Please enclose a stamped, addressed envelope for return of Competitors’ Cards. Cards will not be sent otherwise.
